Full day seal and island experience at the UNESCO world heritage site Waddensea. Small group tour!

We will pick you up right in the center of Amsterdam in the morning and drive you through the beautiful Dutch country side: land claimed from the sea, past farms, villages and windmills.

Enclosing Dike
We will cross the 30 kilometer long and 100 meter wide enclosing dike which closed off the ocean in 1932 and formed a new lake: the IJsselmeer. The dike was built to protect the land from the ocean and to claim new land for agriculture.

Waddensea UNESCO World Heritage Site
Upon arrival at the harbor of Lauwersoog, we will board our ship that takes us onto the Waddensea. The Waddensea is the largest unbroken system of intertidal sand and mud flats in the world. Because of its unique coastal wetlands and tidal system, it is a refuge for a huge number of animals, including marine mammals such as the harbour seals, grey seals and harbour porpoises. The Waddensea World Heritage area is one of the most important wetlands for waterbirds on earth. It´s unique character of intertidal sands and mud flats makes the Waddensea a calm sea with hardly any risk of uncomfortable swell.

Exploring the Island of Schiermonnikoog (National Park)
We will set sail to the unique island of Schiermonnikoog, looking for seals resting on the sandbanks at low tide. On the small island, there will be plenty of time to explore the beach, dunes and the vintage village of Schiermonnikoog on your own.

Lunch or Dinner on deck
A lovely lunch or early dinner is being served on board our ship or in the harbour. The chef uses local produce and will serve the catch of the day as well as local organic meat. Please notify us in advance if you have any dietary requirements.

After an exciting and active day, we will take you back to Amsterdam.
